Super Cool, Super Fast VMAX! |
Super Max: Spectacular-looking and spectacularly fast describe this road rocket built by Cannes Moto Services, a V-Max specialty shop in Mougins, France. The 1540cc nitrous engine uses Carillo rods, four 41mm Keihin FCR carburetors, specially designed proprietary cams, a Hindle exhaust, a lock-up clutch and chain final drive. The nitrous supply is provided by three separate bottles: one large one sunk into the fiberglass tailpiece, and two small ones on the left that are shaped, angled and located to mimic the twin straight pipes exiting on the right. CMS claims this beast cranks out a whopping 251 bhp. Theres plenty of whoa to deal with the go, as well, with Billet six-piston calipers and Beringer 310mm rotors providing most of the stoppage up front, assisted by a stock twin-piston arrangement in the rear. The fork is an extended GSX-R1100 unit, while a set of hlins piggyback shocks gets the job done at the rear. Amply lighting the way are dual twin-beam headlights rescued from a couple of wrecked GSX-R1100 Suzukis(Reprint from CycleWorld Magazine) |

Powerful beauty. A Blown Vmax! |
Black Max - SC: Yes, that indeed is a supercharger hung on the side of this 200-bhp V-Max, an American-made Magna Charger belt-driven off the crankshaft. That installation, as well as the construction of the rest of the bike, was performed by Didier Vernire, a BMW car mechanic of some note in his native France. The supercharger feeds the low-compression (8:1), 1236cc engine via a 41mm two-barrel carb appropriated from an old European Ford. Exhaust gases depart through a Stampeeders pipe made by Hindle of Europe. Vernire chose to use only a single front disc brake, a big 320mm Brembo rotor clamped by an eight-piston Spiegler caliper. He makes do at the rear with a two-piston, 290mm Brembo setup. The front fork and wheel are native to a Ducati 900 Monster, and the rear wheel is a GSX-R750 item modified to work with the shaft final drive.(Reprint from CycleWorld Magazine) |
